Why YOU Should Vote? Practical Reasons That Might Convince YOU!
78WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE? DUH!
Right now - more Americans than ever before are asking the question - "WHY Should I VOTE?"
Have you had this type of conversation recently, with someone you know personally?
Sorry, but "why" are we actually having this conversation so publically in the first place?
Are these excuses not to vote - that we are discussing around the water cooler, our way of excusing each other in some twisted way? Are we trying to make "not" voting "this time" seem like some sort of acceptable choice in itself... empowerment of some crazy kind?
Or maybe we are having this conversation so that we can all attempt to make each other feel okay about our desire to be neglectful?
There you go... I said it!
TO VOTE OR NOT TO VOTE.... DO WE HAVE A VOTE ON THIS?
A Vote For Anyone Is Only A Vote For Hope!
Are we all just lacking a general sense of responsibility lately? After all... we still cannot cast our vote by the click of our mouse.... yet.
Drats!
Is it too much work to think about for some? Meaning... it means you must be somewhat informed, to then cast a responsible vote - or else you are being apathetic - right? Is that what we are allowing ourselves to believe?
Is this the reason that some are thinking of just taking a pass on this election, or pehaps even being irresponsible with their privileged vote?
Frankly - I want to just SCREAM when I hear someone tell me that they are NOT going to vote. Most common excuse for their declaration that they are not going to vote... "they don't like anyone running"!
Now, that is down right LAME!
First of all, it is not my intention to offend anyone by writing about this problem of apathy that is spreading itself rampant right now... but come on people - doesn't all of this, when we think about it - even for for just a minute.... really just sound like some spoiled child whinning?
Hey... choosing NOT to vote, is not trendy. So - don't try it.
LAME EXCUSES NOT TO VOTE...
- I DON'T HAVE A RIDE TO THE POLLS
- MY DOG IS SICK
- EVERYBODY IS DOING IT
- I'M GOING ON VACATION AND WILL BE OUT OF THE COUNTRY
- I FORGOT TO REGISTER
- MY CAUSE DID NOT MAKE THE BALLOT
- I DON'T KNOW HOW TO VOTE
- WHO'S RUNNING?
- NOBODY CARES WHAT I THINK
- WHY SHOULD I CARE
- TOO COMPLICATED FOR ME
- MY PARENTS WON'T LET ME
- I CAN'T FIND MY KEYS
- WHAT VOTE?
IMPORTANT Reasons, that you need to VOTE!
If this radical thought process is working for you right now - and that little bubble that you have surrounded yourself with -- that might allow you to get away with such an option -- please think again!
WARNING: BubbleS will burst - and the lack of responsibility as an adult will have its consequences. YOU are over 18.
History and politics bear this out!
So, don't you!
YIKES! The graves of all patriots who ever lived or died for the freedoms that you and I enjoy - are most likely rolling over in their very graves! Let alone all those who do and ever have taken the right to vote in this country as a privilege -- that they would never have cast off so casually... like it was a CHOICE!
Have you tried this on any of them? NOT! See... I figured you knew better.

Somebody still wants me! To VOTE that is...
WARNING: When Ignoring Important Stuff - REMINDERS always follow!
The only real choices we have when it comes to voting is this -
Who?
What?
Why?
Just three. And then you make your declaration and mark it!
First of all, you need to know that I am neither a politician, activist or very savy when it come to politics in general. I am pretty much you. But not quite!
I am still refusing to give into that attitude or give myself or anyone else seeking permission - to just take a pass on "this" vote... because I don't like anyone.
Don't ask me or anyone else - to cheer you on to vote or try to convince you! That is not my responsibility... or anyone Else's.
In fact - if people were over-all really Okay with their very personal political decision to NOT vote... they would keep it that way - personal.
Personal things exude confidence!
The fact that this conversation is so very comfortable between people right now... is a frightening indicator for our future in this country and where politics is headed.
Hello... politics is YOU:-)
Any Excuse Not to Vote is Unacceptable!
Don't go thinking that you are setting yourself up for the future when you can then say.... smugly -- "well I didn't vote for so and so"!
Uh uh... I don't think so my friend!
Here is a fact just for you -- anyone who has the RIGHT to vote and does not exercise that privilege -- merely negates that voice.
What ever happen to acting and not being acted upon?
Can you say the word "victim"?
And that is what I have to say about politics.... at least for today!

P.S. Forward this to someone you love, and that may be considering taking the easy way out... not okay!

I think that voting is one of the basic human rights we have to choose the political direction we prefer for the next 4 years, and very probably for another 4 year term, as well. I would certainly encourage every single person to vote, no matter her or his political preferences. Voting is secret and nobody will find out your favorite candidate you voted for. It is quite easy to vote in the USA, because you have to decide between 2 main (strongest) candidates and not between 10 or even more.
I volunteered to be a poll worker this year. It is just one little piece of the whole process but it makes me feel like I am doing something important and like i can be part of a process that is bigger than me. I'm also way excited to vote this year and play my part in choosing the people who represent our country and our state. I feel very passionately about this whole process and hope that some day I can get more involved.
You need not worry about me, If I by chance don`t like ether candiate I`ll write in my own Name. That way I know I`ll like who I vote for !
Yah, you said it! It is our responsibility as citizens to vote. To not vote means you don't care about your own house, this country, that we all live in together. To not vote means one is still a child letting others decide what is right and wrong for you. Write on! Write on!
I agree, Write On!. it's important for every qualified voter to vote. But as a believer in the two-party system, I urge voters to cast their ballots for Democrats or for Republicans, not for third party candidates or for Mickey Mouse.
Why does it matter if you vote? Its not your vote that counts, its the electoral collage vote that decides who is the next president. I can understand voting in a county or state election but not the presidential election!
It's important to vote, Kat, because the Electoral College merely reflects the vote of your state. Electors from your state technically can vote any way they want to vote, but they are pledged, in most states, to cast their ballots for the candidate chosen by their state, either entirely or by proportion. If no candidate receives enough College votes to qualify, the U.S. Constitution provides for a procedure that basically throws the election into the U.S. House of Representatives. If you do not vote, you have no say at all in who is elected. In this particular election, your vote littering could mean war or peace, depression or prosperity, and even life or death to many people here ande abroad. Do you have something more important to do on Nov. 4?
ok. So there are only 12 people in the collage, so it can't be the vote of every state! My state is not a key state, so my vote doesn't count. As far as it going to the house, it would be better because it has more people to vote, all though they are swayed votes, its got to be better than 12 people! So please tell me why I should vote, and yes I do have something better to do then decide who is going to sit in a chair and say yes to a bill or no to a bill. Its not like the president can change anything with out going thru everyone else.
I know I am stupid, but thats what I was taught! So thank you Public Schools!
No I don't care about my self, I am a loser!
Write On, I am glad to find another person who encourages one to vote. I came into this country 20+ years ago and am very surprised how some take their right to vote for granted. Ever since I was eligible to vote, I have exercised this right. I believe as a voter, we have a voice and we can collectively make a difference on important issues such as immigration, abortion, healthcare, taxation, etc.
It`s for sure if you don`t VOTE you got no room to gripe !!!
I need help i am writing am essay on why people should vote. Does anyone know?
I do not know why I should vote. But I would really like for someone to tell why.
agree with write on.It is our duty and RESPONSIBILITY to one another!
You should only vote if you believe in the candidate you're voting for.
If you don't like any of them, don't vote.
You gotta fight...for your right...to vote!
alright you've concinved me
brave and wise take. hope to read more hubs in the line. God bless!
It seems every year the number of voters there is a decrease.
it's important for every qualified voter to vote

Bravo!!!! I could not agree with you more! I also am not "into" politics--I find it boring and hard to understand. However I do my homework to be able to make an educated decision and I go VOTE. I think we've all gotten a little lazy--we Americans are so used to everything being handed to us on a silver platter that God forbid we have to DO something to continue the process of free speech!
