lovely hub and great quotes. I have heard that " being a grandmother is your reward for having been a mother"--Don't know as I have grown children but no grandchildren--yet:-) I know about this wonderful special relationship from the other side of it as I was very close to my grandmother--she did so much to make me who I am and I miss her soooooooo much even though she has been gone for years.
A very heart warming hub. Love the quotes. Now that I'm a grandparent, I can fully relate to the joy my own grandparents shared with me.
Thanks so much for sharing,

Write On I am moved by your hub. Such beautiful quotes and photos. I miss my grandma and grandpa and the love they have shared with me. But I treasure all the moments we've had together. Thanks for this wonderful hub. :)
I was so inspired by the wonderful quote here that I wrote a review of your article on my grandparenting website! I love being a grandparent and I love the feeling I get when I spend time with my grandchildren, or make things for them. Thanks!
What a lovely hub. My own grandparents have long since passed, but I remember them so clearly.
My granny was very practical, and though she always encouraged our dreams, her support was always tempered with common sense. One of my favorites of her expressions, usually in response to the phrase, "I wish..." issuing fron one of her grandchildren (most often in wheedling tones) was the calm and gentle reminder that, "If wishes were horses, the beggars would ride."
That axiom has been passed down in the family - I know I have said it many times, to my son and to many others.
I really enjoyed reading this. I love being a grandparent, it's funny how much you enjoy children when you know you can send them home.
really lovely hub.... some brilliant comments there. Yes grandchildren do compensate for getting old.
Grandparents gain heart-knowledge of the word ADORE when they hold their first grandchild.
Great collection indeed. I love reading them.
I really loved the quotes. You always hope that the experience is as wonderful for everyone else as it is for you. And every time I think that I can't possibly love my granddaughter more, I do.
I alway tell my grandchildren the same thing that MAMA JANE always told me, "YOU MAY BE THE OLDEST ONE, BUT I,VE BEEN HERE THE LONGEST.
Great quotes, thanks for taking the time to share.
In my grandparent practice I have logged four years so far, with six years practical experience. Two years belong solely to my four year old granddaughter who graced me with my final qualifying credential to open my grandparent clinic, and two simultaneous years she shares with her younger two year old brother.
All previously acquired credentials were gathered throughout 48 years of loving experiences and poignant observations showered intermittently upon my life. I was blessed to know all four of my grandparents, three were very present in my life and gifted me with formative values for love of God, family, country, religion, education, friendship, and hard work. My maternal grandfather left an indelible impression marking a path I resolved never to follow, for all of this I am most grateful.
My husband's grandparents have also influenced my life. His paternal grandmother passed away when he was three yet she and I have much in common, especially writing and music. His maternal grandmother I knew the longest of all eight of our grandparents, she was the epitome of patience, elegance, and family devotion. I often told her in the last few of her 92 years -- when I grow up I want to be just like you. Again I owe deep gratitude.
I have learned much from my father, step mother, and parents-in-law as I observed the grandparents they each were for my children. Having lost my mother at age 11 I can only imagine the kind of grandmother she would have been. Moments of softening toward past misunderstandings or hurts captured my heart at our parents loving interactions with our offspring. This gives me much hope for future healing in relationships with my children through their children.
To all of the above, and the many more grandparents it is or was my privilege to know and observe, I owe great debts for each and every credential they helped me acquire.
Perhaps I owe the most to my own children, two daughters and three sons. (girl, boy, boy, girl, boy) Surely all skills developed and mistakes learned from as I raised them form the majority of the practical experience I draw on as a grandparent.
In the four short years my oldest has been a mother I have felt the same softening tug at my heart that I once did while I watched our parents, gentle tugs toward healing wounds in our own parent-child relationship. What would parents and their children do without their grandchildren or children to help bridge rifts and heal family ties?
How great the opportunity to love and be loved unconditionally without the constant encumbrance of daily responsibility! Round the clock duty to provide basic needs and reasonable wants, balanced activities and adequate attention, along with self discipline and social training.
Thanks again for the wonderful quotes.
LOVE IT!
This is the best hub ever! I have a journal (one of 40 or more) that has all sorts of grandparent quotes throughout it, but I can't find it. You've got so many quotes here that I had never heard before. Great work!

I am really looking forward to being a grandparent some day. Your hub makes the thought of it even more exciting. Nice job!

My grandmother passed away two days ago. These quotes have been comforting because my granmother has been such an unfluence in my life. As an adult who had truly inspirational, loving grandparents all of my life, I am truly blessed. For all of the grandparents out there--, continue the good work! You do make such a huge difference in your grandchildrens lives. I am feeling tremedous grief now, but my life has been exponentially richer for having had my grandparents in it.

I LOVE YOU GRANDMA & GRANDPA!!!
This is a great site! I was blessed to know my grandparents on both sides of the family. As I was growing up, my grandpa (my mom's dad) and I became very close...Talk about 2 peas in a pod. When he suddenly had a stroke some years ago and never recovered, it hit me like a ton of bricks...so much so that over the years, I wrote a book about what a wonderful man he was and what a great impact he had on my life. My wish is that every child could have a such a special relationship with at least one of their grandparents...what a wonderful world this would be if that were to happen!

Just read your quote collection! Very fun! Grandparenting is very special and no one understands that feeling until you become one! I just started a site on grandparenting ideas. It is www.grandparentsplus.com. I'm just beginning to blog the ideas so it is a work in progress.

Write On,
What an awesome Hub honoring the grandparent in all of our lives. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the different quotes on grandparenting and just browsing through the blog itself, as it is beautifully laid out with awesome pictures as well. I will try to remember my grandparents on grandparent day, even though they are no longer with me to share the occasion. I will definitely remind my children to remember their grandparents as well. Thanks for sharing this beautiful tribute.
